Barca's Iniesta weds to the 'Gladiator' tune
It's been quite the summer for Barca midfielder Andres Iniesta.
Spain won the UEFA Euro 2012 championship. He was voted Player Of The Tournament. And now he's scored the biggest goal of his life—making his long-time girlfriend Anna Ortiz his wife in a star-studded ceremony at Tamarit Castle in Barcelona.
Right after the wedding ceremony, the 28-year-old announced the news to his four millions fans on Twitter. "Amazing day! Just married," he wrote in Spanish and English.
He also posted a photo of him and his bride—and the mother of his one-year-old daughter, Valeria—as she wore a stunning 1920s inspired tiered lace gown in white. Hmm, you'd think with one child already, the jig would be up.
Guests at the wedding included his Barca buddies Cesc Fabregas, Gabi Milito, Gerard Pique, Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto'o, Sergio Busquets and Victor Valdes.
According to Futbolita, the ceremony was held in the castle garden. Andreas' mum escorted him into the courtyard as the theme song from his favourite movie Gladiator played from the speakers. (Dramatic, but not a great happily-ever-after reference, we think.)
Minutes later, Anna walked down the aisle as Whitney Houston sang I Will Always Love You. (Again, not a great marriage reference.) After the service, the couple threw a banquet at the Mas d'en Ros restaurant.
