UK boxing champ KO-ed over Vegas strip trip

British Pakistani boxer and former two-time world champion, Amir Khan, was caught red-handed at a Las Vegas strip club this week. Nothing new for a virile 25-year-old athlete to party with pole dancers, you’d think, except that he posted a picture of him at the joint on Twitter—and he’s engaged to be married!

To make matters worse, Amir—who was the youngest British Olympic boxing medallist to win silver at the 2004 Athens Olympics at age 17 and the youngest British world champion ever to win the WBA Light Welterweight title at age 22—is also meant to be a devout religious believer.

In the photo, Amir can be seen standing in front of the exotic dancer with a giant wad of cash in his hand. We’re guessing it wasn’t to buy a round of drinks for everyone. His message along with the photo was: “Let’s play lol”.

Reacting to his Twitter post, his fiancée, 20-year-old New York student Faryal Makhdoom, commented online: “Ew. Woke up to something very disgusting & disturbing.” But she added later: “Oh well! I’ll still smile through my day. Hehe.”

His fans immediately took to the Internet to slam him for disrespecting her and for being a bad role model, to which he quickly deleted the photo. Amir has since admitted, “It was silly of me” to be exposed like that and issued an apology to everyone, claiming the money was fake and the stripper was really an “acrobatic performer”. No kidding!

Following the backlash, Faryal tried to defend her future husband on Twitter: “Everyone needs to take a chill pill. I am aware of everything my man does. Thanks for the concern. However, there’s a big difference between a strip club & a normal club. I think most clubs in Vegas do have pole dancers. Even I knew that lol.”

However, some fans weren’t having it. One Twitter user wrote: “Tut tut. What’s the world coming to? Letting ur fiancé dance with other girls and shoving money down their knickers haha.”

Amir then apologised a second time on Twitter but ended up posting the same photo again! “It is not a strip club. I wud never spend or waste money that way. I was in a club as a guest but believe I did nothing wrong, that’s why I tweeted the picture myself in the first place.”

That did nothing to soothe the savage critics, one of whom sent this message to him: “Sort urself out Amir, when mrs sees this u be knocked out first round.” Amir eventually announced that he had to block over 100 people from his Twitter account for “talking rubbish”.

Amir and Faryal met each other last July and got engaged in January this year. Meanwhile, Amir intends to step up to the welterweight challenge after facing Danny Garcia on July 14. He’s thrown his hat into the ring after twice seeing his fight with Timothy Bradley fall through. Bradley recently beat Manny Pacquiao in a controversial fight for the WBO welterweight title.
