It was meant to be a romantic fairytale wedding at a stately English castle for football midfielder Danny Guthrie and his new wife, Rebecca.

But the £40,000 (that's almost RM200,000) reception at Allerton Castle in Yorkshire turned into a chaotic brawl between the families of the bride and groom. At one point Rebecca was even punched in the face, reported The Daily Mail.

The fight involving members from both sides, including their fathers, began around 2:30 in the morning during the after-wedding disco session.

Someone rang the police to diffuse the situation, but the punch-up was already breaking up when they got there. Two hours later, however, someone called the coppers again after Danny was allegedly banging on a door to get into the castle and damaged the entrance.

The wedding party then spent the rest of the night at the castle and left the next morning.

Rebecca has since denied the incident took place. "No, no, no, no! I don't want to know. This is way beyond me. I don't want this. This didn't happen," she said. Meanwhile, Danny took to his Twitter and said: "Its been made to look a whole lot worse. Gossip gossip gossip."

Welcome to married life, Mr and Mrs Guthrie!

Danny, 25, is currently a free agent after being let go by Newcastle United on 1st June 2012. He made a total of 19 appearances for the football club last season across four league and cup tournaments, and scored two goals for the team. Newcastle came in fifth on the Premier League table.
