Carroll: Pick me for Euro!

Andy Carroll has roared out a message to England boss Roy Hodgson: Pick me for the Euros.

The £35million Liverpool striker has finally hit form after a struggle since his switch from Newcastle in January 2011.

And he said: “I don’t want the season to end. It would be nice to go to the Euros — I have one more game to go and we’ll see what happens after that.

“You can see see that I’m more confident now when I step out on to the pitch, and I feel I have shown that in the last couple of games.

“I’m enjoying my football as you can see from my performances.

“I’m confident of doing well all the time. It’s not just the last two games I have played well in. I feel I’ve done well in other games.

“Kenny Dalglish has shown a lot of faith in me. I haven’t had the greatest season but he has stuck by me and defended me.”

Carroll, 23, followed up impressive display as a FA Cup final sub with a man-of-the-match display against Chelsea at Anfield on Tuesday, proving too hot to handle for John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic.

The Kop were chanting Carroll’s name throughout the 4-1 win, delighted at seeing him eclipse Anfield old boy Fernando Torres, whose £50m move sparked Carroll’s arrival.

Carroll added: “After losing to Chelsea in the FA Cup final last weekend, I didn’t know what it would be like. But from the minute we kicked off, it was fantastic. It felt great to hear them singing my name.”
