Southampton head north

Southampton are celebrating automatic promotion to the Premier League after romping to a 4-0 win over Coventry at St Mary's.

The Saints will end a seven-year absence in doing so, with Billy Sharp, Jose Fonte, Jos Hooiveld and Adam Lallana bagging the goals on the day.

The result meant West Ham's 2-1 win over Hull became irrelevant, with Sam Allardyce's men finishing third and now heading into the lottery of the play-offs with Cardiff City lying in wait.

In the other semi-final Birmingham take on Blackpool.
