Rooney in new England kit
Wayne Rooney shows off the new England kit exclusively in SunSport on St George’s Day — hoping he will get to play a major part in Euro 2012 this summer.
The Manchester United striker will miss the first two group games in Poland and Ukraine through suspension but could not hide the passion he still feels for the Three Lions.
Rooney, 26, who boasts 28 goals in 73 caps, said: “Representing your country is something the whole squad takes great pride in and we’re focused on the challenge waiting for us.”
He was joined by Joe Hart, Darren Bent, Kyle Walker and Danny Welbeck for the launch of the St George Collection — the official range of kit and sportswear for the Euros.
Striker Bent said: “We have amazing support from the fans wherever we play and it always spurs us on.”
Keeper Hart added: “We’re all really excited about the challenge of the Euros and we hope to make the whole country proud.”
Walker will have even more reason to try to reach the squad with his Spurs boss Harry Redknapp hot favourite to be the new coach.
He said: “It’s a special honour to wear the Three Lions and the St George colours give you a special kind of pride whenever you pull the England shirt on.”
