LOAN sharks usually splash red paint on their victims’ homes or cars when they fail to get their payments.

In the latest case, however, a car accessory shop worker has been warned that he will be made “popular” on the Internet.

The illegal money lender is threatening to upload Lik Shiang’s photo and details on the Internet to shame him.

But what is worse is that, Lik Shiang’s RM1,000 loan has ballooned to RM85,000 in just two months.

The loan shark had also threatened Lik Shiang’s mother, demanding that she repay her son’s debts.

Lik Shiang lodged a report with Kajang police last Friday and has also sought help from MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Michael Chong.

Lik Shiang said he faced some financial problems and could not settle the loan on time. The loan shark then started topping up the interest on the loan.

He said the loan shark then transferred the loan to another loan shark, then another. The one going after him now is the eighth loan shark.

“The interest is so high that I cannot afford. I have given them RM5,000 and now I still owe RM80,000. This is ridiculous,” he said.

Michael Chong said he had contacted Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar over the matter.

He said DCP Khalid had promised to look into the case.

well its difficult to give any comments on this type of case. bcos the victim normally casnnot go anywhere to solve his problem bcos he will b going around the bush.
1.He goes to MCA..news paper highlight only...nothing can b solved. along gets angrier splash more paint..more threats
    2. He goes to police..police say so many cases like this...backlogs and "why u pinjam from Along" questions and kena sindir...nothing done...Along more angry
    3. He goes to relatives..all run away bcos too dangerous situation and RM1k bcome RM85k..who wants to help...Along more angry
    4. Finally ..no way out..run away and disappear.
The moral of this story is "NO SOLUTION but ONLY TRAGIC END RESULT" Some problems simply do not have a solution. Along problem is worldwide and thousand of years old.

sometimes cant blame. People who are desperate are blinded momentarily. To him, its just borrowing 1k. If at the point of time, even 1k also he need to borrow, im pretty sure he is quite desperate. Its easy to say not to borrow from ah long but where else can you loan 1k when you're really in need? Bank ? dont think so..

Seriously, how many more stories need to come out before people learn not to borrow from Ah Longs. I can't say I sympathise with this guy. He needed to borrow RM1k but was eventually able to pay RM5k to the Ah Long..how stupid is this logic? He would hv been better off borrowing from several friends and family and repaying them with interest too.

I agree with RC, when someone borrows RM 1000, he must be desperate.Banks never borrow to the poor.

don't allways blame the public who borrows from along. Why can't the authority control the activity of these along. The goverment and the authorities allways have many reason for their poor control to nab these along. These along earn so much why pity them. If most time they make so much money and in this case 40x their initial investment in a month who cares if the these along loose money. There should be never be any allowance for the along to do as they like. Who do they think they are? Are we living in cowboy town for these minority group of people to do as they like. The fact that this matter has been never setteled shown our goverment and the relevant authorities power to handle public's interest.

you all will have to analyze what causes him urgently in need of the 1000, I guess it was for his personal spending.

As I cant see 1k can solve any problem if he was that desperate, unless the 1k plus his own saving are used to pay for medical fees, business cash-flow or repair his vehicle, otherwise i really dun understand y he needs the 1k in the first hand, bad move.
