Charged with cheating Singapore casino
Three foreigners were charged with cheating the Resorts World Sentosa of S$13,400 (RM30,938).
French nationals Thierry Laurent Michel Fabrice, 45, Reynald Georges Victor Lasnel, 61, and Spaniard Pintado Jose Lopez, 63, are said to have placed S$3,600 (RM8,311) worth of chips on a winning bet in a game of roulette after the result had been declared at the casino, to deceive the dealer into believing that they had won S$7,200 (RM16,621). The alleged offence took place at the casino last Saturday.
They are accused of a similar offence on April 2 involving S$6,200 (RM14,312).
Lasnel was charged in hospital while the other two appeared in court.
Fabrice is also accused of trying to cheat a dealer into giving him chips valued at S$15,700 (RM36,242) on March 26 by placing chips worth S$400 (RM923) and S$100 (RM230) on a winning number and between number 19 and 22 respectively after the result had been declared.
All three were offered bail of S$15,000 each. Their passports have been impounded. They will be back in court on April 12. If convicted, all three face a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine on each charge.
More than a handful of people have been taken to court to face casino-related charges since the opening of Singapore’s first casino in February.
