Ranjitha, the actress from Tamil Nadu, who is said to be in the sex tape involving spiritual guru Nithyananda.

Spiritual guru Nithyananda who is at the centre of a sex scandal with a Tamil actress has denied that he had done anything illegal and against the law.

In a statement through a VCD, he said neither the ashram nor he had done anything that is against the law.

“We will find out the truth and will come back to you very soon. Till then please be patient," he said in the video clip.

Reports said the VCD of him speaking before a camera at an undisclosed location was sent through his lawyer and circulated to selected media.

The video in Tamil and English has also been posted in Youtube and accessible at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IO_6GkLekWY&feature=related

Nityananda said he was in the process of collecting details with regard to the charges and allegations leveled against him. The contents of his speech were telecast by a private Tamil Satellite Channel.

His statement came after his former disciple Nithya Dharmananda alias K Lenin said he had shot the video purportedly showing Nityananda in a compromising position with an actress which was later telecast on TV
channels.

Based on his complaint, police registered cases against Nityananda under various sections of the IPC including cheating, criminal intimidation and rape.

Police Commissioner T Rajendran had said all cases would be transferred to Bangalore since the incident had taken place at his ashram at Bidadi. Special teams had been formed to trace Nityananda.

The video aired on Tamil TV channels recently had caused a furore, with some Hindu groups and others protesting against Nityananda even as the Karnataka government promised "very strict" action against him.
The Ashram, however, has maintained that the video footage was morphed.

The shocking video surfaced on the media on March 2, showing the guru in acompromising position with a Tamil actress later identified as Ranjitha.

This led to the guru's followers venting out their anger of being deceived with violence. Followers went on a rampage and ransacked the ashrams in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

He was not only worshipped among the commoners but claimed the credit of having many high profile followers including celebrities, artists, seers and politicians.

From Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and Gujarat CM Narendra Modi to movie stars like late Vishnuvardhan, actress Tara and Mallavika Avinash - the high profile followers list of the guru is a long one.

Nithyanda won over thousands of followers with his sweet promises of healing sickness and finding bliss.

Like any other successful spiritual gurus of India, he also enjoyed a good following from foreigners.
