Panty-less warning for Valentine's day
By Edward Rajendra
Love birds are in danger of being trapped by the snoop squads of the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (JAIS) this Valentine's Day, but girls who go 'commando' (panty-less) may just get away with it.
While female students in institutes of higher learning in Selangor are being encouraged by word of mouth or via the grapevine, electronic or otherwise, about not wearing panties on that day to express their love for their boyfriends, the JAIS officers are all worked up over these deviant acts.
Jais director Datuk Mohamed Khusrin Munawi said he was disgusted by the promotion of such immoral activities.
"Muslims must understand that Valentine’s Day is not for them. We will not allow Muslim students to be taken in by such celebrations that deviate from the teachings of Islam.
"At this moment, we are unable to determine the source of the ‘no-panties movement’, but those encouraging such a culture are irresponsible," he added.
However, two students in their 20s from Shah Alam, who gave their names as Ummi and Melissa, said they were aware of the “no-panties movement”.
"I feel it is a personal matter,” said Ummi with a smile.
"Valentine’s Day is a good time to express one’s love."
"And, what we use or don’t use is our right, our freedom. But we will do what is right. It’s a new world now."
Khusrin said Jais officials would be checking budget hotels, malls and parks throughout Selangor on Feb 14 to ensure that Muslims behave themselves.
"If we find unmarried couples together, they could be charged with committing khalwat (close proximity)," he said after a meeting at the state secretariat building in Shah Alam.
He said lamps in public parks will be turned on to deter couples from using such areas for amorous interludes.
"We also advise parents to ensure that their children are at home."
"We will also check restaurants that offer candle-light dinners, as these often lead to possible sexual activities in budget hotels."
It is not known how a girl who is not wearing panties could be singled out.

its for everyone to celebrate. but the panties issue is so dumb. to the person who started it, dun be too proud cos its so stupid. why dun u ask them to go without a bottom, then it would be more obvius to their boy friens rather than not wearin an underpant.. dumb, dumb, dumb
Muslim women have no rights. Don;t believe me? See the women of other islamic countries. Their women can;t even talk with men.
if its PTPL or MSU or whatever else.. its fine, as there's too many sluts over there pretending to go to class anyways.
This is just plain stupid.
Local Govt should hunt this scum down and put him in mental ward. idiotic
To all girls out there, PLEASE don't do it or you will be one of the idiots...
This can happen on any other day.Whats the big fuss?
But i think they're already doing it now, with the no condom thingy.
"Come on honey. If you love me, you would want me to feel the best right?! We must be together as close as possible..."
Malaysians have been an object of laughter nowadays. Politicians are making a mockery out of the nation.
And personally I think panty-less "promotion" is kind of cool.
She's a f*cking bitch !
.
.
Joking.
And I second ...'s thought. In the near future...they will come knocking on your door in the middle of the night shouting, "Show us your wife!!!"
wow, the guy managed to single-handedly insult every young, old, man AND woman who has ever gone for a nice candle-light dinner. bravo.
2. Celebrating Valentine's Day is just like celebrating Recycling Day or Aid's Day, which is not wrong for it has got nothing to do with my religion.
3. For the JAIS' info, Malaysian Muslim Women are not the same as them (JAIS = moron). We understand our religion, have a strong faith, know what we are doing and do not go against our religion.
4. I sometimes go commando because its my choice and it has got nothing to do with my religion as long as I tutup aurat.
5. JAIS, please do some justice for the people and do something more fruitful?
1. i agree, and i don't expect jais to request for all ladies to raise their skirts. the statement was made so that muslim ladies will not do such a stupid act.
2. celebrating Valentine's Day is NOT similar to that of Recycling Day or Aids' Day. how can you compare celebration of noble cause to that of celebration of lust? you have to look into history to understand Valentine's Day before putting such comparison.
3. JAIS is not moron. Moron can be referred to someone who comments about something that he/she does not know. If Valentine's Day is not against your religion, then it is up to you.
4. yes, i agree. that is your choice and no one from jais will ask you to raise your skirt.
5. jais is established for muslim, and thus it works in line with muslim teachings. if u are non-muslim, u don't have to worrry.
I am a guy too - uh, when did Valentine's day became a celebration of lust? GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT.
It's the same thing that you said to all those who commented on Islamic rules and regulations without knowing thoroughly about it - you have done the same. If you do not know how to differentiate between love and lust - please do not use such a strong word.
As for JAIS is moronic or not - they shouldn't waste their times on something they cannot control - like whether people chose to wear underwear or decides to eat in a candlelit restaurant.
if jais is established for muslims, i wonder why arent they in Asia Cafe subang jaya catching those muslims who are drinking alcohol?
mmm...pls laa. jais is just some bullshit organisation to eat our tax-money.
seriously, every weekend in asia cafe, i see more malays drinking beer and liquor more than the chinese or indians.
lame clowns.
With so much restrictions, rules and laws but yet, Muslims still kill one another, can marry 4 wives, marry underage girls, have no equal rights for women and outright commit sins and put in the name of religion. There's no freedom, u can't do this, u can't do that..! sigh, WTF man!!??
Go back to where ever you came from and stay there as you definitely are not equipped to handle a multi-cultural country like my proud Malaysia.
I have so many friends from so many different races, even an Iraqi who took refuge here during the 1st gulf war and stayed put after wards! He loves it here!
Like you, I have many friends from diverse religious backgrounds. I don't see why people like Dumba$$ thinks that people of different religions can't get along. I am glad and sure that there are many Malaysians out there who can see beyond skin colour like you and I. Hopefully, people like Dumba$$ will realise that it takes very little for us to get along.
Btw Dumba$$, my BEST friends happen to be a Muslim, Christian, Hindu, while I am a Buddhist. See, no racial tension. In fact, we are proud of each other. You know why? 'Cause we don't tolerate each other's existance, we ACCEPT and RESPECT it? Ever hear of it?
P/S: I think the name Dumba$$ is aptly applied to you. You should stick to it.
Thank you for your fair comment. Unfortunately many people did not understand various religious beliefs in this country and continue to say something which they do not even know head and tail, thus creating tension.
I also have many non-muslim friends and I will certainly not ridicule their beliefs or teachings.
Those Merdeka, Labour and other celebrations that you quoted, those are for noble causes which are NOT against Islam. So, no harm celebrating from Islam standpoint of view.
Got it, dude?

Lets stop celebrating Merdeka, Labour Day, Agung's B'day, Teacher's day, Childrens world day and etc... It's not what you celebrate but what you take from it that matters, natch.
i wonder how candle-light dinners will lead to possible sexual activities LOL
but i must agree that the panty-less movement is kinda stupid. "yeah u could express more love by not wearing a panty" hahahha... just so truee
Since quite some time, Malaysia is in news for wrong reasons and this is giving different opinion to my Family and friends abroad. Like about this countries state of religious tolerance, general public safety etc etc... I keep reassuring them that it's not true at all and maybe is being created by few self minded people. latter when they achieve their targets, they themselves may come forward and solve the issues. Resulting in they become public HERO. I hope you can understand what I mean....
I humbly request all to please stop discussing about these religious things as it only leads to unending controversy.
Please stop this talks of someones panties a...
