16 bodies fall off truck after accident
Imagine a pickup truck flipping on its side in front of you and 16 dead people falling out of it. What's your first reaction? For a van driver known only as Zhang, his answer was, "Wahhh!"
Zhang was on the Longna Highway in Sichuan, China, when the accident happened on June 2. Recalling the moment, Zhang said a tyre on the truck exploded and the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to flip on its side.
"I wanted to help, so I drove to the emergency lane. And, wow, I saw more than a dozen bodies on the road and the truck driver was busy covering them up with a piece of tarpaulin. It was scary. I did not dare to get out of the car and quickly drove away."
"Where did the bodies come from? Was there a big murder case?" he thought as he sped away from the scene.
Zhang only calmed down and called the police when he reached the Luzhou toll plaza about seven-kilometre away. Last Saturday, he also called the Huaxi Metropolis Daily hotline to tell them about his scary encounter.
Police have confirmed that no foul play was involved, saying that the bodies were specimens for the Luzhou Medical College lab.
