This could be the future of flying on a Chinese airline.

Chinese airlines are recruiting foreign flight attendants as many foreigners prefer being served by attendants from their own country.

Hyoen Seok, a 30-year-old South Korean male flight attendant working with Hainan Airlines, said many of his compatriots prefer being serviced by attendants from their own country.

Air China currently employs the highest number of foreign attendants - around 40. It is expected to add 50 more South Korean staff.

China Southern Airlines are also employing Indians and Central Asians, with more to come, from Australia, France and the Netherlands.

China Eastern Airlines targets to have more than 100 foreign flight attendants. It already has 20 experienced hands from Germany and France, this year.

Experts point out that employing more foreign flight attendants can actually save costs for Chinese airlines.

Although foreign flight attendants’ salaries can be a little higher than their Chinese counterparts, the turnover of foreign flight attendants is lower. - China Daily / ANN
