Accused murderer reveals tattoo for dead kids

Mairead Philpott, who was charged with murdering her six children, has revealed the tattoo dedicated to them.

The inking bears the names of Duwayne, Jade, John, Jack, Jessie and Jayden, aged five to 13, who died in a blaze at their home last month.

Also charged was their father Mick Philpott, 55.

Wearing a vest top, the former baker, who has 17 children by five women, shook head as the charge was read out.

Standing behind a protective glass screen, he frequently peered at his 31-year-old wife to check if she was okay.

Mairead, wearing a strap top that revealed her tattoo, held a tissue behind her back.

The couple, who were charged on Wednesday, appeared at court 100 yards from Derby Cathedral, where their children’s funeral will be held.

It is not known yet if they will be allowed to attend the service.
