Hookers could have been Russian spies
Agents caught up in the Secret Service sex scandal could have romped with Russian SPIES posing as hookers, it was claimed last night.
Last week agents protecting US president Barack Obama were sent home from the country after claims they spent a boozefuelled session with prostitutes.
It is believed their night of vice was exposed by one of the hookers who went to police after the Americans refused to pay her.
A furious bust-up with the woman, identified as Dania, 24, apparently broke out after one agent allegedly went back on a pledge to pay her $800.
But a senator claimed yesterday she could have been placed there to lure the agents on behalf of the former Soviet state.
Senator Chuck Grassley said: “We’re looking at something that is very, very serious when national security might not be protected properly.
“Who knows who might be using prostitutes? The Russians are famous for that to get information out of us.”
The advance team, who had been in Colombia ahead of Mr Obama's attendance at the Summit of Americas, was accused of bringing hookers back to their hotel.
A total of 12 Secret Service members and 12 military personnel were probed over the claims.
Nine Secret Service members have since resigned or been forced out and three more have been cleared of serious misconduct.
Mr Grassley added: “The issue here isn’t just people messing around with prostitutes, the issue is the security of the president of the United States and the issue is any national security implications that it might have because of the secrecy and the documents and things of that nature.” - www.thesun.co.uk
