Ministers watch as cop bleeds to death

A policeman, R. Vetrivel, in Tamil Nadu lies on the road begging for help. The 44-year-old's legs have been chopped off by gangsters.

A government convoy passes by this part of Tirunelvelli. It includes two ministers  - for Sports and Health - in the Tamil Nadu government. The convoy stops.  Neither of the ministers step out of their cars. With them are bureaucrats - a Collector and a Health Secretary.

The Collector, M Jayaraman, finally gets out of his car after dithering for eight minutes. But nobody offers to take the wounded inspector to hospital. Finally, the Collector phones for an ambulance. It doesn't arrive.

Twenty minutes later, the cop is placed in one of the cars (the ministers still don't offer theirs). The policeman dies en route to the hospital.

After the ambulance drives away, the Health Minister finally gets out of his car. When contacted later for a comment, he angrily asks the NDTV correspondent to leave him alone.

Tamil Nadu's Health Minister is M. R. K. Panneerselvam. The Minister for Environment and Sports is Thiru T. P. M. Mohideen Khan.

The senior bureaucrat, VK Sunburaj, who was in the convoy, says there's nothing wrong with what transpired. "We did our best possible in that situation. It takes twenty minutes for ambulance to come...Police did a good job," he said to NDTV in a phone interview.

The video is shot by a free lance cameraperson who was covering the ministers' visit. It contains disturbing images and is not suitable for children. - www.ndtv.com

The two ministers should be charged for man slaugther.

The ministers need security to their wife, kids and every damn single one in their family. But today they showed what value is given by them to those who give security. The people should realize that these ministers are the worst among all the men on this earth. Infact i will say that these were cruel than the gangsters who attacked the S.I. If two ministers cannot save a single person who is dying in from of them, how can one ever even in their dreams can imagine that they will save and server the state and country. I request all the people of this country to pose a question to themselves. Not even a single fellow police officer think of attending the man who was bleeding to death and were searching for evidence. I ask, couldn't the S.I had become the live witness if they had saved him? Couldn't they ask one simple question, that the SAME THING COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO THEM? This is why people have lost faith on Police, ministers and the whole government.
    They all have killed humanit...

Today was the death of humanity.. Even the fearsome beasts in the jungle protect and help each other when time comes, but today the universe's most evolved beings proved themselves that they are after all worse than those beasts.

That's why i support the ban for Tamil movies that glorifies violence as a necessary means to get what you want. All hail the destruction of violent Tamil movies!

Look at the fat rat in the 4th picture (right bottom corner). Look at him looking to see if he can make a career out of this issue.

I wish he'd be stuck by a lightening bolt of a billion joules.

This worthless piece of Shyster, what a schmuck

    Mr.Policeman, rest in peace ; Mr.Minister 1&2, sleep sound tonight :)
  • On The Other Hand
Don't be too quick to judge! If you have viewed the video footage, there were perhaps hundreds of people there, all walking to and fro, but none rendered first aid. Granted, the Ministers, being public serviced people are being rightly crucified by the public but what about all the rest of the by-standers? Couldn't anyone have stopped the blood flow? What about the cameraman who took the video footage. Surely, he could have done something (first aid) instead of holding onto the camera just to record (for posterity?) for a full half hour (I presume he did nothing except to keep on filming). It really reflects the lack of compassion in our society now. either thru a lack of knowledge of First Aid or general apathy. It is really sad. Tell me if it doesn't happen in Malaysia too.

I'm telling you that currently at this point of time, if this were to happen to someone on the streets in Malaysia, someone will help.

Anything else you want other people to tell you?

p/s: Don't just talk down on your own country, live in Tamil land for a month and see if the grass is greener on the other side.

The poor soul..died a slow and painful death....
Nobody cared to help him...A policemen on uniform!!!
I think the ministers were scared their dhotis will be tainted with blood & their Mahendra vehicles will smell blood...
If it was in Malaysia..Vetrivel would have been in emergency operation theater within 30 minutes of admittance to hospital...He would have undergone bilateral leg amputation...and be alive..
    God Bless His Soul....

We tend to show our true nature when caught unawares in unusual situations. These two ministers have shown themselves to be indifferent to the extreme suffering of a fellow human being. The people who elected them should take note and the media should ensure that this is not forgotten untill these two ministers resign their posts or are defeated in the next election.

...this may be a lesson to all Indians in Malaysia that they enjoy the privileges of living in a peaceful country like Malaysia with a caring government...unlike those who claim they are fighting for their rights in Malaysia...and go over to the Indian government begging for this so call unfair treatment in Malaysia...i think u know who you are....ciao
