He started as an actor and later became the President of the United States, but it is only recently that Hollywood thought about making a film out of Ronald Reagan's life story.

Tentatively titled Reagan, the film will trace Reagan from his younger days to the time when he was President.

Mark Joseph and Ralph Winter will produce the film, while Jonas McCord will write the script, deriving materials from two biographies of Reagan authored by Paul Kengor.

Of course, the film would not be complete if they leave out the 1981 assassination attempt, when the newly-elected President survived gunshots fired by John Hinckley Jr, who did it in an attempt to impress actress Jodie Foster.

Researching on the well-known figure has changed McCord’s mind on the President, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

“I was of the opinion that at best he was a bad actor and at worst a clown,” he said.

After gathering more information on the man, the screenwriter went on to describe that Reagan, in his youth, was “a surreal Norman Rockwell painting with his alcoholic Catholic father, devout Christian mother, Catholic brother and ever-changing boarders the family took in.”

Similarly, Joseph was fascinated by how much the people adored Reagan.

“I watched Americans line up and wait for 10 hours for the simple privilege of passing by his closed casket. They loved this man.”
