H&M opens, causes mayhem, everybody looks the same

Swedish clothing store H&M has always been cool, with its slick advertising campaigns featuring Madonna and Lana Del Rey and David Beckham collaborating with it to create an underwear line.
So when its first Malaysian outlet opened at KL's Lot 10 shopping centre, a very eager crowd gathered outside the store more than an hour before the launch event for invited guests. And when they got in, there was no holding back.
Armed with cash and credit cards, over 1,000 guests rifled through cable knit cardigans, sweaters, vests, blouses, skirts, caps and bags and big, chunky costume jewellery, embellished shoulder pieces and more.
Besides shopping like they had nothing to wear, there was plenty of socialising. Music boomed from the speakers, champagne was on tap and some guests were even dancing. "I'm the happiest girl in the world," gushed actress Scha Al Yahya.
Singer Qalisha was equally thrilled to check out "the lingerie session". Soo Wincci, who has a law degree from the University Of Reading said, "It has a special place in my heart as I used to go to H&M when I was studying in the UK. And now it's opened right here on my doorstep." Jazz singer Aisyah Hasnaa summed it up in two words: "Bloody brilliant!"
Other celebrities spotted there included former Miss Malaysia Elaine Daly and Thanuja Ananthan, actresses Diana Danielle and Mizz Nina, who were all getting their retail therapy on. Yes, celebrities are like everyone else—they need food, champagne and fashion.
