Information Management graduate Tuti aced the X Top Model Search 2012 recently in KL. Tall, pretty and sporting a lop-sided hairstyle with curls that seem to take on a life of its own, she speaks three languages according to her Facebook page—English, sarcasm and profanity.
The witty Tuti, whose full name is Nur Mohd Noor, exhibited the je ne sais quoi at the event and triumphed because of it. "I won because I had the x-factor and the swagger," she told the press later. "She flicks her hair a lot. She know she's cool," said XTMS 2102 emcee Joanne Kwan on Tuti's confidence.
Tuti did tame her hair for the finals. She also won a subsidiary title–the X Walk. Cheers of approval met her whenever she took to the stage. The 175cm tall girl strutted her stuff like a seasoned professional, whether in casual, formal or swimwear garments and the night was hers, lop-sided hairtstyle or not.
When the emcees of the night, Joanne and Arthur Tan, asked the 1,000-odd crowd who their favourite was, Tuti's name was shouted out with gusto. The 22-year-old has had very little modelling experience but decided she wanted to go to "the next level" by joining XTMS 2012. Now, she definitely will seeing as how she's won it.
The runner-up for the night was Angelica Yap, while the judges for the night included local supermodel Tengku Azura.

Last year's XTMS Top 5 finalists also took to the stage, including XTMS winner Sim Hui Aw. Man, how she's blossomed from last year when she was just a business student who had only done a single fashion show before entering XTMS. Today, she's a much sought-after catwalk model.

But it takes a lot to win to into the finals, let alone win the XTMS. It was a grueling six weeks of appearances, catwalk and photo shoot training for Tuti, Angelica and the five other XTMS 2012 finalists–Chelsea Florence, Amanda Soo, Nicole Tan, Mariah Ayob and Vier Tan (who won the X Shot subisdiary title).
Originally, there were supposed to be 10 finalists but three dropped out due to circumstances and the pressure of the intense six-week training, which involved catwalk, photo shoots and appearances at functions. "It was tough but worth it," says Tuti.

Both Tuty and Angelica will now join the XTMS Asia 2012 final in Macau in December, where they will compete with eight other girls from Hong Kong, China, Singapore and the Philippines.
The last girl standing gets an appearance at Beijing Fashion Week in October 2013 for three days, perhaps even on the runway, and she'll tag along for seven days with a yet-unnamed "top model" to experience the lifestyle in New York or Paris.
She'll also get a three-year contract with an "international modeling agency" (to be confirmed). And once that happens she can move on to dating movie stars!
