More 'Avengers' until 2015 but no 'Widow' movie

Everyone gets a movie except the Black Widow. And the Hulk. And Hawkeye.

Everyone gets a movie except the Black Widow. And the Hulk. And Hawkeye.

The Avengers sequel will open in theatres 1st May 2015. Disney announced earlier this month that Joss Whedon, who wrote and directed the first movie, will return for the sequel.

The original movie shattered the record for best US opening ever, bowing to US$207bil (RM621bil) sales in May. It has gone on to make US$1.4b (RM5.2bil) worldwide, behind only Avatar and Titanic on the all-time list of moneymakers.

The movie marked the end of "Phase One" for Marvel, which started with the first Iron Man movie and continued with release of Thor and Captain America.

The third Iron Man movie will bow next summer, followed by a sequel to Thor in November 2013, and the next Captain America movie in April 2014.

Marvel has also announced that Galaxy Of The Guardians, chronicling a lesser-known team of superheroes, will debut in August 2014. All that and still no Black Widow movie for Scarlett Johansson. Now that's a crime!
