Bieber brings on the love

We might just as well have hoisted and flown the National flag for teen idol Justin Bieber when he got into town recently, judging from the excitement of a few dozen screaming fans, who waited patiently for two-hours for Bieber to show at a private event at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

"It's worth the wait. He's so sexy," said one of his many screaming fans. To watch the video of the fans, go here.

The 18-year-old Bieber played an acoustic seven-song set with a guitarist, showcasing his delicate and swoon-inducing voice, which proved his voice wasn't a product of recording-studio effects and his songs did work even when stripped down.

The set included the smashes Boyfriend and Baby, in which he alternated vocals with his adoring audience."I love acoustic sets. It's good to strip down the songs and focus on my voice," he said. But not all his fans were focused on the voice. They screamed throughout the performance, professing their undying love for the YouTube sensation.

And boy, did Bieber love them back. "I love my fans to the moon and back. My hands can't stretch long enough to show them how much," he said sincerely at a fan Q & A session,

Bieber was as personable as an entertainer could possibly get. He  gave a fan an air-hug when she requested a real hug because she was "way too far" for him to reach. Bieber even asked her to write her Twitter handle down, when he was asked if he could follow her tweets. "Please write it down on a paper, so I can remember," he said.

In the flesh, Bieber was the embodiment of golly-gee, American affability and teenage-charm that could have come right out of the pages of an Archie comic. Dressed in all-American teenage wear - sneakers. jeans, T-Shirts and and a shirt with sleeves cut off worn over, Bieber was the boy-next door. Hard to believe he was pulled over for speeding and accused of knocking up a fan.

"Not everybody loves me,"  he answered when asked what it was like to be loved by everybody. Speaking of love,  when asked who his favourite artiste was, some fans cheekily shouted Selena, referring to his GF singer  Selena Gomez, whom he flew into town with.  "At the moment,  it's John Mayer. Hey! You can't tell me who my favourite artist is!" he smiled and told the crowd.

The Canadian pop star, who was in town for the MTV World Stage Live In Malaysia concert at the Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach in Subang Jaya, Selangor, also said that one of the things he would like to accomplish was to win a Grammy.

He came close when he was nominated for  Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album for My World 2.0 at the 53rd Grammy Awards. in 2011. Bieber was discovered on YouTube and has three albums out since - My World 2.0 (2009), Under The Mistletoe (2011) and Believe (2012). He has sold over 18 million albums. Ooo!
