Yang Mi & Han Geng in 3D Fengshen Bang?
With 3D technology taking the showbiz by storm, it's only a matter of time before China, one of the biggest and fastest growing filming hubs in the world, comes out with its first 3D drama series.
In fact, a 50-episode 3D series on Fengshen Bang, one of China's most popular fantasy classics, is now in the works as we speak.
With a making cost of RMB4 mil (RM2 mil) per episode, it's going to be one of the most expensive drama series produced in China, what with hot rising stars like Yang Mi and former Super Junior member Han Geng being billed to headline the show.
Meanwhile, directors like Stanley Tong (the Police Story series and The Myth) and Gao Xixi from China are being considered to helm the series.
Along with epic novels like Journey To The West, Fengshen Bang (a.k.a The Creation Of The Gods), written back in the Ming dynasty, was considered one of the best and most influential fantasy novels throughout. With its rich elements of Chinese mythology, the book has captured generations of readers, including some TV scribes who turn it into popular drama series like The Legend And The Hero and TVB's Gods Of Honour.
According to the report, the new 3D show will be completed just in time to kick-start a new 3D channel by China Network Television (CNTV) next year.
