Christina Ricci to play evil Smurf
Christina Ricci is set to go blue for a role in the second instalment of The Smurfs.
The Pan Am actress is slated to play Vexy, an evil version of the lovely Smurfette, voiced by Katy Perry, in the July 2013 release.
Safe House’s Brendan Gleeson is also said to be joining the cast as Patrick Winslow's (Neil Patrick Harris) stepfather, Victor Doyle. Actor-writer JB Smoove has also been signed to lend his voice as a mischievous Smurf named Hackus.
Sony Pictures announced that filming has already begun with director Raja Gosnell once again at the helm.
Back behind the microphone are all principal voice cast members including Harris, Jayma Mays, Hank Azaria, Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, George Lopez, John Oliver and Anton Yelchin.
