If Rose had been lighter...

The Titanic hit movie has returned with the re-release of the movie in 3D.
And netizens have been caught up with the issue as to whether both Jack and Rose could have survived.
Guokr.com – a Chinese mythbuster website – answered the question with a 'Yes' on one condition – if Rose was slimmer.
The website had done some calculations, using the Archimedes' Principle of Buoyancy, based on details from James Cameron's blockbuster Titanic.
An editor of Guokr, Master Wu, estimated the wooden plank that Jack and Rose were clinging on to be 2.1m long and 1m wide.
"I estimated that the wooden plank could keep afloat both Jack and Rose if the latter was 10kg lighter," said Master Wu.
However, some netizens have rubbished the theory, saying it was not accurate and some have questioned the need for researching a hypothetical topic as the story of Jack and Rose was not factual.

Meanwhile, netizens of Reddit have posted images on how Jack and Rose could stay out of the freezing water, assuming that the wooden plank could keep them afloat.
The post showed that the wooden plank was actually big enough for both Jack and Rose, who could even have played a card game on it.
