The buzz is on Datuk Michelle Yeoh as our very own Hollywood superstar returns home to promote her noteworthy biopic, The Lady on April 24.

Sharing the good news exclusively with The Daily Chilli, Datin Janet Yeoh, Michelle's mum says excitedly: "I haven't seen the movie yet. But I'm going to watch it with her (and the entire family) at a charity gala."

During her stopover in KL, Michelle will be gracing the charity premiere of The Lady, hosted by Swiss Watch Extraordinaire, Richard Mille at the GSC Pavilion KL.

The charity screening is in aid of Voice of the Children, a non-profit organisation for the welfare and protection of children in Malaysia that the former Bond girl personally championed.

Inspired by the heartwarming story of iconic Myanmar freedom fighter Aung San Suu Kyi, The Lady is directed by acclaimed French filmmaker Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita, Leon: The Professional, Taxi, The Fifth Element and The Transporter).

Just for the role, Michelle had to lose 8kg to acquire the super slender frame of Suu Kyi, not to mention being deported from Myanmar in June last year.

Teased if she' going to ask her famous daughter about her impending nuptial to long-time partner Jean Todt, mummy dearest says, with a laugh: "I have no idea if she's ever going to get married. She will have to come back first. Then I will know. But maybe I no need to ask la."

The Lady, distributed by GSC Movies, will be released in selected cinemas in KL, Penang, Ipoh and Malacca on May 3.
