Nick Cheung Ka-fai’s star continues to rise, as his new flick The Stool Pigeon opened in cinemas more than a week ago.

The film, a follow-up to the critically acclaimed crime thriller Beast Stalker, raked in HKD7 million (RM2.8 million), after being shown for only eight days.

The actor collected his seventh acting award for his memorable performance in Beast Stalker, when he was recently crowned the Best Actor at the 10th Changchun Film Festival.

At a celebration party, Cheung, 42, promised to walk around wearing "a pair of pants with holes" if the box office reception for The Stool Pigeon exceeds HKD16 million (RM6.4 million), reported Sina.com.hk.

“If it happens, I would wear pants with holes and walk around, without wearing anything inside, but I would have to work out first,” he said with a laugh.

Happy to see his latest film beating Hollywood films at the box office, Cheung revealed that, for twice, he disguised himself with wig and dentures and sneaked into the cinema to observe audiences’ reactions towards the film.

“I am happy to see that they enjoyed the film. A girl who was sitting beside me even cried watching it,” he said.

Back to his career, he might have become one of the most sought-after leading men in Hong Kong but don’t expect him to star in a Hollywood production anytime soon.

“I can’t juggle between acting and speaking the lines in English. I would rather do more Chinese productions with good quality,” said Cheung.
