HANS ISAAC wasn’t lying when he said that Cuci the Musical would be one helluva show.
The premiere recently was an enjoyable experience for critics and fans alike.
Audiences were left breathless from the cast’s incredible performance – and from laughing too much.
By the time the curtains came down, the audiences was on its feet for a standing ovation, whistling and cheering as the cast and crew took their bows.
It’s not hard to understand the overwhelming response Cuci the Musical received.

For starters, it has a good premise – about four adopted brothers (Afdlin Shauki, Awie, Hans Isaac and AC Mizal) who try to realise their ambition of winning the contract of washing the windows of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers.
A story about chasing your dream can be corny, which is why we applaud the directors’ (Datuk Zahim Albakri and Harith Iskander) effort of not taking this theme too seriously and deciding to focus more on making people laugh instead.
The best thing about Cuci the Musical was how genuinely funny it was. This came as no surprise as it gathers some of the country’s best live comedians on the same stage.
Kudos to scriptwriter Douglas Lim for weaving joke after joke into the play, along with a handful of clever and timely references, which were further enhanced by the brilliant comedic timing of the seasoned comedians.
Be prepared to laugh until you cry. The crowd was left rocking in their chairs with laughter during a particular scene where AC briefly interacted with a member of the audience.
While the four leads each shone through his part, the additions to the cast, Adibah Noor and Vanidah Imran, were a delight to watch.

The former, who was a perfect match with Awie, took everyone’s breath away when she started to sing, while the latter was instantly likeable as she stepped on the stage as the beautiful CJ.
The supporting cast was no less dazzling.
Harith Iskander, who co-directs the musical, stole the show as a shrewd and ruthless villain while Reefaleft a lasting impression through his brief appearance as a fast-talking host..
Production-wise, it was quite impressive with space and colours to create stunning visuals and realistic settings ranging from kampung house and mamak shop to sophisticated offices and coffee house.
It is laden with interesting details that you will miss if you blink, not to mention vibrant ensemble cast that adds drama to the show.
There are so many reasons to watch Cuci the Musical: there’s singing and dancing, romance and brotherly bond, plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and even action (a heart-pounding stunt near the end).
Most importantly, it’s got heart – about how the underdogs beat the odds to become the ultimate champion.
