MALAYSIAN silver screen legend Tan Sri P. Ramlee has been voted one of Asia's greatest actors of all time by CNNGo.

P. Ramlee was voted for his contributions in the film industry in the 1950s and 1960s that had pushed local cinema to new heights as an actor and director.

Among the many movies made by the Malaysia's most beloved entertainer, the lifestyle and leisure website of international news network CNN has picked the ketua penyamun (robbery gang leader) character in Ali Baba Bujang Lapok as his best role.

Although very few Asians had taken taken home a Best Actor and Actress statue in the Academy Awards, CNNGo recognised that these countries have produced incredibly talented artistes in the cinematic history.

Thus the website has narrowed the list of top Asian legends to 25.

India topped the Asia countries with five stars being voted in the list. They are Guru Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, Pran, Meena Kumari and Nargis.

Also in the list are Ruan Lingyu, Gong Li and Zhou Xun from China; Josephine Siao Fong-fong, Leslie Cheung and Tony Leung Chiu-wai from Hong Kong.

The others are:
Japan: Toshiro Mifune, Tomisaburo Wakayama and Takeshi Kitano
Korea: Ahn Sung-ki and Shim Eun-ha
Thailand: Petchara Chaowarat and Mitr Chaibancha
Pakistan: Mohammad Ali and Zeba
Singapore: Ng Chin Han and Fann Wong
