The Dark Knight Rises box-office shot down
The Dark Knight Rises recorded strong ticket sales in its opening weekend, but well below forecasts given by many in Hollywood, as some moviegoers appeared to have stayed away after a shooting rampage at a midnight showing of the movie. The movie grossed an estimated US$162m (RM586m) in showings through 21st July in US and Canadian movie theatre, according to studio estimates from people with knowledge of the data. That was lower than the US$173mil (RM516mil) that had been projected on the 21st based on the 20th receipts.

Michael Jackson's mum's kidnap mishap
Jermaine Jackson, brother of Michael, said that their mother Katherine wasn't missing after all as Michael's kids had reported to authorities, but was resting with family in Arizona on "doctor's advice". Katherine, 82, was reported missing by Paris, Prince and Blanket on Saturday, and 15-year-old granddaughter Paris also posted on Twitter: "yes, my grandmother is missing. i haven't spoken with her in a week. i want her home now."

Twilight, Swift, Bieber win big at Teen Choice
Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and The Twilight Saga continued their runs as teenage fan favourites, winning the top honours at the Teen Choice Awards. Country music star Swift, 22, picked up five awards including choice music female artiste and female country artiste, as well as voice actress for her role in animated comedy The Lorax. The singer was also among the top winners last year at the awards show.

Stallone's son Sage laid to rest in LA
Family and friends mourned the son of movie star Sylvester Stallone at a private funeral on Saturday, about one week after he was found dead in his LA home. Celebrity websites published pictures of the Rocky and Rambo star outside the funeral for his 36-year-old son, Sage, who was found dead on 13th July. The official cause of death is still undetermined pending toxicology results, which could takes weeks.

Usher's former stepson dies in boating accident
Kile Glover, the 11-year-old former stepson of Grammy-award winning R&B star Usher, died on 21st July of injuries received in a boating accident more than two weeks ago. Glover died on Saturday morning, the Willie A Watkins funeral home in Atlanta said.
