Hong Kong's paparazzi can finally end their speculation on the nature of the "friendship" between Canto-pop singers Joey Yung and Denise Ho—Joey has hooked up with Wilfred Lau!
The couple can barely hide their happiness. A day after they were spotted together in Thailand, Wilfred, 35, confirmed that he and Joey, 32, were seeing each other. Though they've been friends for over a decade, love only blossomed between them in the last few weeks, he revealed.
A beaming Wilfred said their families were thrilled to learn about their becoming an item. Joey's mother shared her happiness on Weibo, while Wilfred's former flame Stephanie Cheng extended her blessings on Weibo, too.
One person who wasn't too thrilled was Denise. As Wilfred went public about his affair with Joey, Denise stopped following him on Weibo. Wilfred, a veteran singer who's been likened to Eason Chan, is a long-time buddy of both women.
Since debuting in 1999 at age 18, Joey has become the most popular female singer in Hong Kong. Her love life, however, especially her friendship with Denise who's long rumoured to be gay, became the stuff of gossip among the paps.
Wilfred insisted that things are fine between him and Denise, stressing that she will always be his mate. "Denise is the first person I shared the good news with. She's my best friend. Joey and I were both single before we started our relationship," he clarified.
