Backstreet Boys did it. New Kids On The Block did it. In fact, they did it together and now they’re the supergroup NKOTBSB. So it's only logical that another '90s boy band is trying to make a comeback as a man band, but it's not 'N Sync. Welcome back, 98 Degrees!

Nick Lachey, his younger brother Drew, founding member Jeff Timmons and the other one—okay, okay, Justin Jeffre—are staging their return after calling it quits 12 years ago. They'll be performing together at the Summer Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania (of all places) on 18th August.

Headlining the new two-day festival are current chart-hitters Kelly Clarkson, UK boy band The Wanted, The Fray, LL Cool J and, of course, NKOTB.

"We miss the rush of being on stage and performing together. Certainly the fans have been clamouring for it, so it just felt right," Nick told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS FM radio show from Los Angeles.

"We are four grown men now," Drew added, referring to the fact that they're all pushing 40. "Most of us have families or kids on the way, so it really is about making sure that everybody can take care of their own responsibilities at home and with their family and with their private lives."

There's been speculation about a reunion for years and this announcement has led to renewed talk of a tour, a new CD and maybe even a record deal.

Between 1997 and 2000, 98 Degrees put out four albums including one Christmas CD and scored four Top 10 hits in the US including one with Mariah Carey. Thank God I Found You remains their only No. 1 hit single. In 2002, they released their greatest hits collection and went their separate ways.

Nick had the most successful solo career—recording two albums, making TV show guest appearances and starring in his own reality programme, Newlyweds: Nick And Jessica, when he was married to Jessica Simpson. After three years—and just as many seasons of the show—they divorced. He's now married to former Miss Teen USA Vanessa Minnillo.

Drew married the 98 Degrees choreographer, landed a couple of Broadway gigs and won the second season of Dancing With The Stars. Jeff released one CD that flopped in the US but was apparently a "chart-topping hit" in China, Japan and Malaysia. And no one's really heard about the other one since the split.
