Nicole Kidman as "an oversexed Barbie" in new flick

Imagine Nicole Kidman as "an oversexed Barbie". That's what you'd get in her latest film The Paperboy, which recently debuts at the Cannes Film Festival.

That's how a particular Cannes reviewer described the actress' latest role in a story set in Florida in 1969. John Cusack plays her object of obsession, a man that is on the death row, while Zac Efron and Matthew McConaughey play brothers who return to their hometown to investigate whether the inmate has been wrongly convicted.

Just how raunchy do Kidman's scenes get in the film? Well, she's seen tearing off her pantyhose and having an orgasm while visiting Cusack's character. In another scene, she urinates on Efron on a beach after he is stung by jellyfish.

Did she have any doubt on portraying such a role?

"Strangely, no. I think I had to step into a place to play the character where I didn't step out of it and look at myself, so it wasn't hard to shoot.

"I'd been looking as an actor for something raw and something dangerous," said Kidman, 44.

Also showing a lot of skin is Efron, who "was in his underwear half the time" in the flick, according to co-star Macy Gray.

"As much as I love everything I've done, this is a new frontier for me. It's incredibly fulfilling. It's a dream. Hopefully, I can keep doing things like this.

"I don't think I was supposed to feel comfortable," he explained of the revealing shoot. "It's like life. This character is supposed to be learning the ways of the world, and that can be very uncomfortable. But it’s also exciting," said the 24-year-old actor.
