Gong Li and hubby divorced in 2009
Ooi Hoe Seong, the Singaporean husband of actress Gong Li, said they have been divorced for three years.
"Me and Gong Li have divorced. Although it has been three years, we're still friends and will telephone each other during festive seasons," Ooi told the Chinese media in a telephone interview.
Asked for the reason for their split, the tobacco tycoon said they were spending less time together.
"We were together for 13 years and treated each other well and with respect.
"Our relationship was good all along and we have never argued before. We had always brought presents for each other whenever we returned from overseas.
"She's an actress and has to travel around shooting movies; I'm a businessman and have to go on business trips. Over the years of our marriage, we spent less time together and our love turned into friendship.
"Three years ago, we sat down three times and discussed our marriage. At the end, we decided to split.
"It was a peaceful separation, no money involved. We are still good friends," said Ooi.
Gong Li and her rumoured boyfriend
The issue of the marriage between Gong Li and Ooi was raised again after the actress was reported to have been living with a French photographer in his country.
Gong Li, 47, was said to have obtained a Permanent Residence in France.
It was rumoured that she and the new boyfriend have been together for six years.
Ooi denied this. "This is not true. This report will cause harm to Gong Li. In fact, we only officially split in 2009.
"During the marriage, Gong Li cared about family very much," he said.
Is Gong Li pregnant?
Several days ago, Gong Li was spotted shopping in Paris.
A netizen secretly took a photo of her and uploaded on the Internet.
From the picture, Gong Li is showing her belly bump, leading to speculations that she is pregnant but she has yet to respond to it.
