Taiwanese heartthrob Ethan Ruan has put his showbiz career on hold since he enlisted into the army, but if you think his star power is going to fade, think again.

The truth is, the 29-year-old's popularity and bankability is still soaring high as he remains one of the most sought-after talents in the film scene.

Since his contract with Catwalk Production House ended last year, the Golden Horse-winning actor has been approached by different entertainment companies.

According to rumours, among them is Media Asia Films, a leading movie company in Hong Kong that manages the film careers of A-listers like Shu Qi, Huang Xiaoming and Shawn Yue.

While this was denied by his manager, it was said that directors like Peter Chan Ho-sun and Doze Niu are eyeing Ruan. Chan has more than once heaped praises on the young man, calling him and next Takeshi Kaneshiro and claimed that he's the reason he went on to produce new wuxia film The Guillotines.

As for Niu, who directed Ruan in Monga - the film for which Ruan was named the Best Actor at the 47th Golden Horse Awards - he is also said to have approached the actor for multiple times but the latter has yet to ink a deal.

Ruan's manager said that the star is going to focus on completing his military service before thinking about his future direction in the showbiz.
