British tabloid The Sun has published a series of photographs showing a friend of Pippa Middleton’s pointing a gun at paparazzi as they took pictures of them in a convertible in Paris.

The photos show the unidentified man brandishing the pistol in the driver’s seat of the Audi, while Middleton, 27, sits in the passenger seat with a big smile on her face. She seemed amused and going along with the whole thing; her and the two other men in the backseat.

The French police are taking the incident seriously and “if the evidence points to her involvement, she will be prosecuted.”

“Anybody involved in the illegal use of a handgun in public is liable to arrest and interrogation,” a source tells The Sun.

Brandishing a weapon in public is punishable by up to seven years’ jail “for all parties involved”.

It was not clear if the firearm was real or fake, but even if it was a fake, the maximum jail term is two years.

The source adds: “Certainly if you were in a car and knew somebody was using a gun to warn people off you’d be liable to arrest.”
