Yvonne and Ivy had to strip naked for medical check-ups
Mandopop singers Yvonne and Ivy Hsu were made to strip for medical check-ups in separate events.
The sisters, who were born in US, began their singing career in Taiwan.
Yvonne first released her album in 2002, followed by her younger sister Ivy in 2006.
Three years later, the sisters decided to settle down and applied for Taiwan residence permits.
When they headed to a medical institution for a check-up, they were asked to strip naked.
Sharing her experience on a Taiwanese TV programme WTO Sister Show recently, Ivy said the male doctor had even touched her breasts, thighs and intimate areas on the pretext of checking for symptoms of leprosy.
The examination room was cordoned off by only a curtain and Ivy said she even saw a male nurse peeping at her through gaps.
Yvonne was somehow luckier because she had a female doctor, but she felt awkward, especially since the curtain was too thin.
"I could see people walking around outside during the examination," she said.
WTO Sister Club is a popular talk show that features a group of foreign women who live in Taiwan talking about their experiences and weird encounters on the island.
One of the guests at the show also shared her similar experience.
Taiwan's Department of Health said they were investigating the incidents.
It said they were currently drawing up a list of standard procedures pertaining to medical check-ups for doctors, adding it would be ready by the end of the year.
