Beyonce Knowles is officially aboard the Obama 2012 campaign train—in case there was any doubt. In a new video posted on BarackObama.com, Bey praises First Lady Michelle Obama, thanking her "for everything she's doing for our country, and also for women around the world".

The campaign spot shows Bey—new mother to baby girl Blue Ivy Carter with husband Jay-Z—reading a letter she penned to Michelle last spring, saluting her as "the ultimate example of a truly strong African-American woman".

"No matter the pressure and the stress of being under the microscope, she's humble, loving and sincere," says Bey, who ushered in Barack Obama's first term in office with a rendition of Etta James' At Last during the president's inaugural ball on 20th January 2009.

Addressing her subject directly, the artiste also known as Sasha Fierce makes a good case for a repeat performance at Obama's next big function, telling FLOTUS, "I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to."

Another high-profile musical mum, Gwen Stefani, is planning to open her Beverly Hills home for a family event with the First Lady on 12th August.
