A-level student voted in as councillor
She is “undeniably feisty” and “a shameless James Corden enthusiast”.
And now 18-year-old A-level student Kate Taylor will put her personality to use representing 10,000 people in Plymouth.
Kate has just become one of the UK’s youngest councillors, winning a seat on the city council in last week’s elections.
In red killer heels and lacy black dress, Labour candidate Kate saw off four rivals to bag her Devonport ward seat with a thumping 839 majority.
So no surprise that the sociology, history and English literature student was all over Twitter.
She laughs as she explains: “I was trending for five whole minutes in the UK.
“I’m gutted because the local press were quoting my tweets and I wish I’d said something more momentous than ‘I’m shattered’.”
Kate is a shining example of motivated youth, a refreshing antidote to the post-riots doom and gloom spoken about youngsters.
