DSK charged with 'aggravated pimping'In the latest saga surrounding former IMF head and one-time French presidential candidate, Dominique Strauss-Kahn faces charges for procuring prostitutes for hotel "orgy parties" in both Paris and Washington, D.C.
Strauss-Kahn's lawyer said the former IMF chief has been handed preliminary charges alleging he was involved in a French prostitution ring.
Investigating judges questioned Strauss-Kahn for several hours Monday.
Lawyer Richard Malka told reporters after Strauss-Kahn left that he was accused of procuring prostitutes and involvement in an "organised gang."
Strauss-Kahn, who was accused by a New York hotel maid of sexual assault last year, was released on a 100,000 Euro (RM409, 763) bail.
Strauss-Kahn maintains his innocence. His attorney stated Monday that Strauss-Kahn was never aware that the women he met were prostitutes.
The investigation into the prostitution ring centers on the French city of Lille, where authorities say hotels there served as the base for prostitution, CNN reports.
Strauss-Kahn resigned his post as the head of the IMF last May in the wake of the sexual assault charges.
Those charges were ultimately dismissed when the credibility problems hampered the prosecution's case, despite the presence of evidence showing that a sexual encounter between Strauss-Kahn and the accuser existed.
